Snow was falling most of the time, getting deeper by the day, and blizzards were a common occurrence, with sharp winds sweeping across the forest at night leaving behind sparkling icicles draping from the roof of the small blue box which stood out from an endless snowy landscape like a tiny frozen lighthouse. But inside it was never hotter or cozier. Doctor, worried for Anaya, turned up the heating like in a tropics. It was always on a colder side inside the Tardis, so this change was welcomed by everyone. Baby slept more frequently now, and for slightly longer periods of time giving both the Doctor and Yaz much needed time to catch up on their own sleep. They would more often than not enjoy slow mornings and sleeping in.
Christmas was around the corner, by Earth's calendar at least, although the time for them moved in a very different way.


Yaz looked around the changing table and huffed "Babeeeee...pleaseeee can you get me her cream, I think I left in the bathroom"

"Sure..." she replied and pulled her braces up

"Wouldn't want your bum getting cold like mummies" Yaz giggled pressing a kiss to her soft cheek "Hey babe, she's got some small rash on her chub chub. Did you see it?"

"Here mummy" Doctor kissed Yaz's temple handing her the cream then leaned over blowing air into Anaya's tummy "I have, she woke up with it. I checked nothing to worry about, it looks like a heat rash, I think maybe it's a bit too hot in a room at night. It will go away"

"You sure? Maybe I should put a cream on it? Or will that make it worse?"

"You can Yaz, those are made by Tardis, it can't  hurt  her, they are for nappy rash and all sorts of stuff...Right?...See auntie Tardis taking care of you...Aaaand...look what I got ya" she grinned proudly wiping out a miniature toy sonic

"I can't believe you made that thing...I love it" Yaz rolled her eyes laughing

"Look...she loves it too Yaz" baby reached out closing little fingers around it and made some cooing sound when the toy buzzed in her hand.

"I could crush her" Yaz smiled "Sometimes I feel like I'm annoying her with kisses"

"Neah...No child can get enough Yaz, take it from me" Doctor closed arms around her and pressed lips to her neck with a sigh.

"What's that sigh for?..." she asked then closed her eyes for a moment leaning back just a little as the other woman buried her face into her neck.

"Nothing...just a sigh" she hummed tightening her arms basking in this moment, taking it all in, every second of it, storing it deep inside her soul.

"God I love you" she exhaled and opened her eyes with a soft smile as her wife's lips trailed across her neck traveling up to meet her with a gentle kiss

"Love you too" she whispered into her lips

Yaz buttoned up the tiny badge trousers sprinkled with gingerbread man and lollipops then draped a pair of brown braces over Anaya's shoulders. A miniature replica of the Doctors with a few baby adjustments. They appeared overnight in Anaya's wardrobe. She wasn't sure who was responsible, Doctor or the Tardis, but no one was admitting to anything. Tardis enjoyed making clothes for her, she had more than she could possibly wear. And Yaz relished in dressing her up. Sometimes changing her for no reason other than the sheer joy of seeing her looking cute. She was now five weeks old and getting more adorable by the day.

"She's all ready to go" Yaz picked her up, kissed her cheek and turned around.
Doctor only shifted little, keeping her arms still tight around her and pressed a gentle kiss to Anaya's head.

"Someone's mushy today." Yaz brushed her knuckles over her wife's face and tucked her hair behind her ear

"Yeah...it's that time of the month, my hormones now seem to be going out me ears and all my emotions...arrrh...soo annoying"

"Well, " she giggled "At least for you it's only every 3 months and I do love the smooshy-mushy you become. It's cute"

"I'm not cute" she wrinkled her nose and twisted her mouth

"That's what you think" Yaz chuckled popping few short kisses to her lips "You're my adorable hot mess...Go get the wrap, she's getting nervous. Maybe having her on you will help"

"Definitely Yaz...it will definitely help" she hopped across the room grabbing the long scarf

"I arranged with Sonya and Ryan to take out the Christmas decorations"

"Alright, but please wait for me before you start putting them up. I won't be long"

"Babe, relax, it'll take us at least four hours to even take everything out. Besides I will have to feed her in an hour"

"Talking about that, can you smell that?" Doctor sniffed around

"Oh noooo...." Yaz burst out laughing "She didn't"

"I think she did Yaz" Doctor leaned over and smelled the baby "Ewwwww....stinky"

"I'll change her"

"It's alright, I'll be the poop patrol, you go get yourself sorted"

"Thanks babe" she passed her the baby and smiled "Oh, and I noticed I'm not a potato anymore" she laughed

"That's because you don't look like one anymore...I need find something else now...need to think...mummy? I like mummy but I need something else, sweetie...no, not that one...definitely not that one, bumble bee, honey...."

Yaz shook her head laughing and popped a kiss to her lips "You silly goof...I need a shower"

"Pumpkin?"

"My dad calls me that, please don't...unless you want me to call you daddy" she laughed smacking her bum and walks away

"Yaaaz!....in the name of the Tardis" she scrunched her face

"Just saying....pick another one"

She placed Anaya on the changing table. Her brains working behind her forehead "Cupcake!!!" She yelled

"I can live with that" Yaz laughed

"I like cupcake...they're sweet and always happy looking"

"Well that's not me then" she giggled from the bathroom

"No" she shrugged "But you make me happy"

Yaz stopped what she was doing and smiled softly then ran back to her and pressed a long kiss to her cheek "And you're my cupcake"

"Oooooh stars..." she scrunched her face when she took the nappie off "Galifrey be saved, what did you eat"

"Oh god, we need vents here" Yaz laughed "Huh..."

"I swear my eyes are tearing"

With Anaya all cleaned up, smelling like a flower and safely snuggled on her chest Doctor headed towards the rainforest. She had some basic maintenance to do and having her daughter with her gave her a special kind of joy.

In a mean time Yaz, Sonya and Ryan were already digging through the storage cupboard.

"Dear god how much stuff does this woman have?" Sonya commented shocked when she saw the endless boxes

"She's older than the bible, what do you expect" Ryan said and pulled the massive box out then the other one

"Waaaw....look at those" her eyes opened wide when she opened one box filled with snow globes

"I never saw those" Yaz smiled "Look, they are different places, New York, Paris..."

"London" Sonya added "And some are musical boxes...look" she turned one upside down "I'm scared to touch it, don't wanna break it"

"Don't, they look very old" Ryan said

"But the details inside" Yaz lifted one with the whole town inside it "Look it even has the birds can you belive that"

"What's that?" Sonya reached for the big book placed between the snow globes and the edge of the box.

"I don't know" Yaz shook her head "...looks like...no waay...is that a photo album?"

"Get out!" Ryan jumped

"It is" Sonya said "Should we?" She looked at Yaz for approval to open it as her eyes glistened with anticipation

"I don't knoooow Sonya...Doctor's very private about those things...better not"

"Yes you should" Doctor smiled and suddenly everyone turned around. She was standing leaned on the door frame, hands in her pockets apparently watching them for quite some time.

"I'm sorry" Sonya said embarrassed

She pushed herself off the door and walked over "C'mere you lot" she smiled "I'll show what it is...By the way she's hungry" she pointed to the baby "She just tried to get it off me and I must admit it's definitely something new I wasn't expecting"

"OMG" Yaz laughed and rushed to get the baby

They all settled on the floor and Doctor opened up the big album.

"See, just my Christmas memories with all the family I used to have before you lot"

"OMG, really?" Sonya's eyes sparkled

"Yeah...I lived thousands of years Sonya, I had many families and many people I loved" She smiled "This is my granddaughter, Susan, we had the best of times. I miss my Susan" she ran her hand over the page with photos

"You had a granddaughter?" Ryan asked surprised

"Yes...Yes I had Ryan..."

"Is that you Doctor?"

"Yap all me Sonya..."

"You're old" she smiled "Sorry I don't mean it a bad way"

"Even Time Lords get old Sonya...and sometimes we just get an old face"

"Who's that?"

"Amelia Pond" she said with a sigh and ran a tip of her finger over the photo "Rory...my fam" she said as tears collected at the corners of her eyes

Sonya wanted to ask but was afraid of what the answer would be when she saw Doctor's face, so she assumed none of these people were alive.

"Clara, my Clara...and Bill...clever beautiful Bill...Aaa this Pery and that's Mel"

"What are you wearing?" Ryan laughed pointing at the bright multi colour jaket

"Oi, those were very fashionable in 80's I'll have you know"

"Bloody hell" he laughed

"Have you seen our parents?" Yaz laughed

"OMG yes...Dad at uncles wedding" Sonya burst out laughing

"This is Martha, she works at UNIT" she smiled proudly

"How come?" Yaz asked

"Oh, you know..." she scrunched her face "She had enough of me and left" she laughed "I was a different man back than"

"Those are beautiful" Sonya said as Doctor flipped through the pages "And I still can't wrap my head around the fact that that's all you"

"Can Anaya regenerate like you Doctor?" Ryan asked

"Yes she can...But let's hope she doesn't have to, cause that would mean she got hurt"

"Oh, I haven't thought about it that way" Ryan slumped his shoulders "Sorry..."

"That's alright Ryan"

"Talking about her, I think she's done" Yaz said

"Right everyone..." Doctor jumped to her feet "So where should we put all the snow globes?"

....

"Doctor!!! " Ryan yelled "I think we need more help"

They all held the massive Christmas tree from falling down whilst Doctor was using some strange pulling contraption to lift it up.

"No we don't, we're almost there"

"This is a bad idea" Sonya mumbled as her hair was getting stuck on the pine needles and she struggled under the weight.

"No it's not...it's an excellent idea" Doctor yelled rolling the big pulley wheel

"And why do you have these strange metal cocoons all over it?" she frowned

"Ohhhh myyyy goood!!" Najia’s eyes widened as she walked into the control room "That's one massive tree"

"Wait until you see it decorated mum" Yaz said excited

"Yaaz!!!" She jumped "Why is this child left on the floor?"

"It's heated mum and she's on the blanket...Stop the drama" she rolled her eyes

"I knoooow but still...floor" she rushed to pick her up

"What's wrong with the foor?" Doctor scrunched her face "I slept on the floor more than once, it's not that bad"

"Silly mummies...I think she popped"

"Again?" Doctor raised her eyebrows

"I'll go and get her changed"

"Thanks mum!" Yaz laughed

"Thank you Najia, much appreciated" Doctor added still confused with the floor issue

"All alone on the floor and popped up...I think you should stick with me more" she mumbled carring her away

"Oi, I heard that!" Doctor yelled

"It's almost up Doctor" Sonya shouted as the tree was finally lifted off her and shook her aching arms "That's heavy man"

The tree finally went up and all its branches fell down opening like a massive flower.

"Question" Sonya raised her finger "How the hell are we gonna decorate this giant? I don't suppose you have a really tall ladder?" 

"Yeah....I was wondering that?" The Doctor twisted her lips then smiled cheeky and ran across the control room jumping excited and grabbed the cable hooking it into the pillar. The tree lit up into thousands of sparkling lights and on each branch the cocoons Sonya was asking about opened up into a sparkling decoration in all different shapes

"Woooooow....now that's proper awesome" Ryan smiled

"Nooooo waaay!!!" Sonya stared mesmerized

"That's just stunning" Yaz smiled a brightness smile

"I've been working on that for few years now...I finally got to finish it last week" Doctor grinned proudly putting hands on her waist "Oh...oh...Yaz C'mere" she hopped across and grabbed her hand pulling her towards the tree "Look" she pointed up above their heads to the oval little frames with crimson bows hanging off the branches "Ryan, Sonya...look up there"

"Nooo you didn't" Yaz looked at her excited

"Yes I did" she grinned

"What are we looking at?" Sonya asked trying to focus

"Look...the photos Sonya...You, Ryan, mum, dad..."

"That's grandad up there" Ryan pointed "OMG Doctor!!!" he covered his face with his hands "No waaaay" he shook his head "Me nan" he looked at her with tears in his eyes and ran up to her closing his arms around her

"It's alright Ryan" she tapped his back "Even though she's gone from this world, she's still here with all of us. She deserves to be up there.... With everyone else. It's my tree of life"

There were frames with photos of all the people who passed through Doctor's life and suddenly Yaz realized that amongst all the stars and shining decorations there were little objects which represented each person. She didn't know what they meant but the Doctor did.

"Anaya" Yaz pointed

"Of course" Doctor draped her arm around her and kissed her temple then looked up with a smile

"I think that's it" Doctor said standing on top of the Tardis "should work...I've had these for a while now" she said inspecting the Christmas lights

"Go on Doctor...switch them on!" Ryan shouted as they all stood in front waiting

"Right....Ready?" She grinned haply

"Yeah...do it babe" Yaz said

"Christmas here we come" she connected two cables and suddenly the power from them surged through her catapulting her into the snow

"OMG!!" Yaz yelled horrified and ran to her

"Dooooctoooor!!!" Sonya yelled

"Woooow" she sat in the snow shaking her head "That gave me a buzz"

"Are you alright" Yaz grabbed her hand panicked

"I'm fine, I'm fine...That was fun...Except....arrh...I think I have snow in me ears"

"You scared me there you silly sod" Yaz exhaled relieved "what happened?"

"Oh, just a bit of a short circuit, I have these for a long time now. Maybe time to get new ones"

"There's one more strip in a box...should I get them?" Ryan asked "Don't wanna set the Tardis on fire...or you "

"Yeah, probably not a good idea...go get them Ryan"

She set the new lights up on the roof and grabbed the cables "Ready for the second time?" She grinned "Let's hope I don't go flying again ha?

"Just please be careful" Yaz said worried

"Here we go...on three...Two three!" She connected the cables and this time the Tardis roof flashed in all the colors of the rainbow

"Waaaw that's beautiful" Sonya smiled

"Told you you're gonna love Tardis Christmas" Ryan draped his arm around her and kissed her gently

Doctor jumped off the roof and ran to Yaz wrapping arms around her and rested her head on her shoulder "like it?"

"Love it" she smiled

Ryan and Sonya glanced at them deciding to give them some space "We're gonna make some cocoa, want some?" Sonya asked

"Definitely..." Doctor smiled "Hot cocoa, haven't had a hot cocoa in a while"

"Alright see ya" Ryan waived

Left to themselves they stood in silence for a moment enjoying in the shining Tardis and the snow covered forest. Doctor rocking them side to side dropping small kisses to Yaz's neck and shoulder.

"Do you remember last year" Yaz smiled dreamy

"Which part?" She squinted her eyes messing around

"Oi...All the parts" Yaz giggled slapping her hand playfully

Doctor turned her in her arms with a smile wrapping arms around her waist and Yaz draped hers over her shoulders "You mean when I asked you to marry me?"

"Mmmm" Yaz nodded smiling silly

"And to be mine forever" she pulled her closer

"Mmmm ..did ya?" She giggled "can't remember that part"

"Maybe I should remind you" she leaned forward her lips brushing over hers bearley touching

"Maybe" Yaz chuckled

"Will you be forever mine Yasmin Khan, till the universe crushes down around us and all the stars stop shining in the sky?"

"Depends, how long is that?" She smiled

"Billions of years" she answered and took her lips into hers deep and passionate

They pulled apart with smile and Doctor jumped happily "C'mere cupcake, I think someone’s hungry"

"I bet someone's pooped up as well" she laughed "I’m freezing" she said draping herself over her back and Doctor picked her up grabbing her legs behind her knees

"Aaaaaa...you silly sod" she giggled and kissed her cheek as she carried her inside....
