Chapter 16
Doctor and Yaz met in the control room. Yaz changed into more comfy jogging bottoms. Doctor is already hunched over the console.
"Are we taking Tardis?" Yaz asked confused
"Of course we're taking Tardis Yaz...You didn't think we will walk, did you?"
"Then why we walked all this time then?"
"Because....we're on vacation and we enjoyed nature.... this is work. Besides you're pregnant now...things have changed...Ready!" Doctor smiles with her hand on the lever
"Ready babe" she smiles
"Hold on tight...don't you fall"
"Oh stop fussing just go" Yaz rolls her eyes laughing
Doctor opens the door and takes her sonic out. They stepped out of the Tardis into a massive space underneath the ground that resembled the cave they were in but a lot bigger in size. The cavern branched out into a web of smaller tunnels from all the sides
"Which way do we go Doctor? This place is massive" Yaz walked behind her looking around at least ten different tunnels they have to choose form
Doctor looks at her sonic "This way Yaz" she takes them down one of the passages
They walk through the darkness holding hands with only Doctors sonic lightning the way
"Doctor can you hear that?" Yaz stopped and pulled her hand
"Hear what Yaz?" she stops listening
"That...seems like...breathing" Yaz frowns trying to listen
Doctors eyes are wondering around the space until they get fixed on something behind Yaz's back. She squeezes Yaz's hand harder
"Yaz"
"Mmmm?"
"You know when we did the scan of the hole and I said I'm picking up something almost alive?"
"Yeeeesss" her eyes open wider
Doctor doesn't move her face just turns her eyes towards Yaz "Well...It's sort of behind you"
Yaz's hart started pounding and she slowly turned around. Smelly breath of an animal exhaling felt like strong wind blowing into their faces making their hair fly off their face
"Draaaaagooooonnnnn!!!!" Yaz yells
"Ruuuuunnnn Yaz!!!!!!!" Doctor pulls her by the hand as hard as she could pushing her in front of herself "Run faster Yaz!!!!!"
They both ran as fast as their legs could carry them down the narrow hallway
Doctor turned around whiles running blasting animal with a strong sound waive from her sonic. It gave up and stopped but they both kept running for some time until Doctor grabbed Yaz's hand train to catch her breath
"I think it stopped...I think we're fine" Doctor said still trying to breathe
Yaz leaned her back on the wall trying to do the same "OMG that was close"
"You ok Yaz?" Doctor walks up to her concerned
"Sure...just let me catch a breath"
Doctor scans her with a sonic
"What are you doing?"
"Just making sure you're both fine"
"Don't be silly...of course we're fine...stop fussing" she waives her hand in dismissal
"I am fussing Yaz and I will continue to fuss a lot!!!" Doctor gets flustered
"This is what I was talking about...this is exactly why I didn't want us doing that"
"I'm fine...relax...I'm more worried about how we will get to the Tardis"
"I'll think about that later...Let's just get going Yaz..." she grabs her hand and proceeds down the hallway
"We are not doing this again until that baby comes out...This what happens when I'm too soft...and I'm becoming way to soft Yaz"
She keeps muttering into her chin the whole way and Yaz just smiled and rolled her eyes. She found it incredibly cute and adorable how much Doctor cared, and she was totally enjoying in a moment
"Hey look...lights" Yaz points to the end of the tunnel
"Come on let's hurry up" Doctor pulls her by the hand
They came to the end of the tunnel and stopped completely speechless. The tunnel abruptly stopped at the end and a massive cavern opened up in front of them revealing a huge underground city down below as far as their eyes could reach. Hundreds of small narrow streets and shops with hundreds of people walking through them
"Waaaaaaaaaawwwww!!!!" Yaz's eyes were open wide and wondering around
Doctor stood looking around, her face dropped to the floor "Yaaaz...I think we just found where all the people disappeared" she smiles looking at Yaz amazed
"This is amazing...and look how huge it is...Doctor it's massive!!!"
"I know!! This is too good to be true Yaz"
"How do we get down there?" Yaz goes closer to the edge looking at the massive drop down to the city streets
"Careful Yaz!" Doctor pulls her from the edge stepping in front of her
"Look Yaz there's steps" she points to the small narrow but very steep steps going down the rocks all the way to the bottom
"Yaz this is very steep hold my hand and please be careful...I'll go first" she starts descending slowly down the narrow path holding Yaz's hand so tight Yaz's circulation almost stops
Half way down Yaz made a step and half of the step broke under her feet. She grabbed to the Doctor's shoulder with her other hand
"Yaz!!!!!"
"I'm fine I'm fine love"
"Just please hold on to me" Doctor was stressed out of mind. All she wanted at this point is to get down as soon as possible
Slowly they reached the bottom and steep down the street below.
"You ok?"
"Yet. Stop fussing" Yaz smiles
"You want to rest? We can rest...we have time...look cafe...we can sit for a drink" she smiles pointing at a small place that had tables and chairs outside
"Nooo I'm fine"
"I'm hungry...I bet you're hungry...it's way pass your meal Yaz you really should eat something" she starts pulling her hand towards the place
"I'm fiiiineeee...OMG I'm not hungry.."
"You may not be, but baby is...come on...all that running not good for the baby Yaz...you need energy" she keeps pulling her along
Yaz drags her feet rolling her eyes but she gives in on the argument because she knows she won't win it. They sit at the small stone table and makeshift chairs and a small man approaches them smiling
"Welcome ladies how can I help you?"
"Hello, I'm the Doctor and this is Yaz. We travelled a long way and she's with a baby, so we need some food...and drink..."
"Oh that's nice. We don't get visitors around here. I'm Mani...nice to meet you"
"Nice to meet you Mani" Yaz smiles
"Well for a pregnant beautiful lady I have something very nice. I just made a delicious stew I think you will love it"
"That would be very nice...Thank you. And can I have a glass of water please" Yaz smiles to the nice man
"Sure...And for you madam?" he turned to the Doctor
"I don't suppose you have fried egg sandwich"
A man looked confused "Mmmm....nooo"
"That's a shame...I'd really fancy fried egg sandwich...Never mind, I'll have the same as her"
"Very well ladies just make yourself at home"
Yaz leaned over the table and whispers "Doctor...how are we going to pay for that?"
"Oh...shoot...haven't thought about that one Yaz....suppose we will have to wash some dishes"
"Whaaat?"
Doctor bursts out laughing "I got you...didn't I?....Don't worry Yaz. I got this" she pulls a small card out of her pocket
"You have a credit card????" Yaz looked baffled
"What's a credit card?"
"Never mind...what is that?"
"I can pay any currency in the known universe with this Yaz...so don't worry"
"Right...Where do you get your money from? Not like you work or anything"
"I have some investments you know that I made...all around...Patterns and stuff I did ages ago…I do get paid by UNIT as well…the rest just Tardis makes"
"Right...so Tardis prints money?" Yaz looked confused
"Sort of...suppose" Doctor looked as iff she didn't really think of that a lot
"Mmmm...oookkkk. Well suppose I'll have enough for nappies then" she laughs
"What, for the baby?...Oh Yaz, don't worry about that...you and the baby won't miss a thing. Talking about that, I need to sort out a room. We need to talk about the baby room"
"You're adorable you know that" Yaz smiles
"Here we go lovely ladies. Enjoy your meal" the man brings the bowls with the stew
"That smells lovely" Yaz comments
"May I ask why you live here...underground?" Doctor looks up to the man
"We can't mam...Suffice is scorched. We wouldn't survive five minutes. I don't suggest you go there"
"Scorched? What do you mean?" Yaz asked confused
"The meteor..." man said confused as if they were meant to know that "Oh...of course...how silly of me..you’re not from around here are you. It was years ago...nobody remembers anymore. Meteor destroyed the planet...scorched it completely and destroyed the atmosphere. We took hiding here and... well it's not perfect but it keeps us safe"
Doctor and Yaz looked at each other confused.
"Hey Mani...time to pay" two men approached the man
Mani got all flustered and stepped aside whispering "I'm so sorry.. business isn't doing too well lately. I promise I will have the money soon" Mani looked scared stepping back
"Mani.. you said that last time" man approaches him nicking one of the chairs on a way.
Yaz and Doctor looked at each other
"Doctor?" Yaz whispers
"Stay put Yaz!!" Doctor whispers back
"I'm so sorry I promise I will have money soon!" Mani was stepping back even more until his back hits the table behind him
The two men grabbed another chair throwing it in the wall "Now Mani!!!!!..."
"Oh Mani" Doctor gets up "You know that money you lend me ages ago?"
Mani looks at her confused.
"Yeah about that money...well I have it"
"Doctor???" Yaz looks at her in complete confusion but Doctor singles her to drop it
"Who are you?" one of the men goes into Doctors face
"I'm the Doctor, Manis very old friend" she looks as Mani and nods her head, then looks back at the man "And you?...I don't believe we've met?"
"I'm just doing my job...taxes need to be paid and he owes four months’ rent already" he points a finger at Mani
"Right, and how much would that be?" Doctor askes
"700 hur" the man replied confused
Doctor makes a confused face "Not really up to date with it but do you accept cards?" she wipes the card out of her pocket
"Whaaa?" the two men looked at each other confused "suppose so..."
Doctor smiles "Right...well that's settled then...and I assume you will knock out the money for that chair you just broke" she smiles sarcastically in a man's face
"Right" the man replied confused
"Good...that's settled as well then!" she smiles
Doctor paid his debt and the two man left leaving Mani completely confused
"Are you alright?" she turns to the man concerned
"I can't pay you back that money" he replies worried out of his mind
"Oh don't worry about that" she waives her hand in dismissal "What's happening here Mani? Who are those men?"
"Why did you do that? You don't even know me?"
"Do what Mani? We just really loved the food" Doctor smiles "Go on sit down with us"
The man sits at the table still stressed but slowly calming down
"Mani what's going on here? Who are those men?"
"We all need to pay taxes every month and they are getting higher and higher. Nobody can keep up anymore. It's eating up almost all my money. People are really struggling. And if you don't pay they kick you out on a street"
"Who's they Mani?" Doctor asks
"The chancellor and his men. He practically owns this place. People want to leave but they have no place to go"
"Yeah talking about that Mani..." Doctor makes a face
Suddenly all the lights go out and the whole city goes into darkness.
"What's going on?" Yaz looks around
"We only have power for few hours in a day. We need to save. Listen...do you have a place to stay for tonight? Because if you don't, my wife and I have a spare room. It's not good to be on these streets after dark. It's not safe...specially for a pregnant lady like you"
"That's very nice of you Mani. As it happens no, we don't have a place to stay"
"Well that's settled then...it's at least what I can do for you today. And my wife is even better cook than me, so dinner will be lovely"
They walk through the darkness following Mani with a little lantern. Narrow stone streets stretched for miles. And tall houses made them even darker. They pass next to few suspicious characters and Doctor grabbed hold of Yaz's hand holding it tight.
"Doctor we need to tell him" she whispers leaning closer to her
"We will Yaz...all in good time. But first I want to find out who this Chancellor character is"
"Here we are...it's not much but it's mine" he opens a squeaking door "Honey...we have guests" a man says straight from the door
A tiny woman in a brown dress with apron tided up at the waist, comes to the hallway. She wiped her hands into a kitchen cloth and smiled.
"Oh hello there"
"Hi honey. Let me introduce you to these lovely ladies"
"Hello, my name is the Doctor, and this is my wife Yaz" Yaz looks at the Doctor shocked and confused
Hello, nice to meet you. I'm Kai"
"Honey they travelled from a far and they got caught in a power cut off having nowhere to stay. And this lovely lady is with a baby"
"Oh are you honey? Well, isn't that wonderful. You must be exhausted darling. Have you eaten anything?"
"Yes thank you. I'm fine"
"I will make sure you sleep on a comfier bed tonight. Don't worry"
Kai leads Yaz to the kitchen being extra attentive and it confuses Yaz completely not being used to be treated in such way. She looks over her shoulder towards the Doctor who just smiled at her.
Later on they all sit at the table chatting about all sorts of stuff. Doctor was explaining how they travel everywhere and how they are on their honeymoon. And Kai and Mani explained more about the city and how they met when they were just children and married as soon as they left the school but how unfortunately they cannot afford to have any children. It made Doctor and Yaz sad and angry in a same time and even more determined to put things right in this place.
Suddenly their problems seemed a bit smaller, and they both felt very privileged owning a Tardis that provided everything they needed.
"So Doctor, my husband tells me you paid our debt. I have no words to say thank you to you. You're always welcome into our home"
"Thank you Kai" Doctor smiled
Yaz's eyes were closing. Suddenly she felt exhausted.
"Yaz...I think you should lie down" Doctor holds her hand that was placed on the table
"Yes...honey you and the baby need some rest. Let me show you both to your room" Kai gets up and leading them up the narrow staircase to the top floor of the house and into a small room.
"Bathroom is right there and I left some clothes for you to sleep in. Have a nice rest both of you"
"Thank you so much that's so sweet of you" Yaz smiles
"Thank you Kai, I really appreciate it" says the Doctor
"Well good night" Kai closes the bedroom door
"You take shower first Yaz I can wait. You're tired" Doctor sits on a bed
Yaz got out of the bathroom in a white nighty reaching to the floor. And her hair loose falling over her shoulders. She plonked herself on a bed exhausted.
"Yaz...I'm not wearing that" Doctor yells from the bathroom
"Wearing what?"
"That dress"
"It's not a dress it's for sleeping"
She comes to the bathroom door upset. "It's a dress!" she holds a nightie in her hands making faces
"Well you're not wearing your clothes to bed either. Stop complaining and take a shower"
"Are you saying I stink?" she pulls her t-shirt away from her chest smelling herself
Yaz bursts out laughing "Nooo I didn't say you stink...you never do...But you're not wearing those dusty clothes to bed either. Besides it's comfy. Just please try"
"Alright..." she makes a sour face and getting back in a bathroom
Yaz lies on her back and switches her little baby hologram on "Hello" she smiles looking at it for a while
"Who are you talking to?" Doctor yells from the bathroom
"Just the Baby"
"Say hi from me"
"Alright love" she smiles shaking her head thinking how cute Doctor is
"Yaz this is not comfortable" Doctor is scrunching her face on a door of the bathroom fidgeting in a nightie
"Why?"
"I feel like...I dunno...like I'm naked underneath"
"Aren't you?"
"Noo" Doctor gets into bed
"Hmmm shame" Yaz laughs
Yaz makes herself comfortable leaning her head on Doctor's shoulder. "Look.." she points at the hologram in the air "it's not any bigger?"
"Of course not...it's only been a day" Doctor laughed
Yaz switched off the hologram and turned on her side snuggling in on Doctor's chest enjoying in her fingers running down her back.
"What's wrong Yaz. You seem sad"
"I just keep thinking how blessed we are. You know having Tardis...we have everything we need. They can't afford the baby. I want to help them"
"I know Yaz, we will. Someone is using these people and we will come to the bottom of it. Don't worry" she kisses her head "How are you feeling? I'm worried about this being a bit too much for you"
"I'm ok, you really worry too much" she snuggles in more "Im fine as long as I have you. Tell me one of your stories"
"Alright...what you want to hear? "
"Tell me about your time on court of Henry VIII You never finished that one last time or you did and I fell asleep"
"What do remember last?"
"When you came to the court" Yaz starts to have giggles like a kid
"Alright I'll start form beginning" Doctor laughs
She fell asleep in less than five minutes. Doctor stayed awake for quite some time stroking her hair and thinking about this strange place they found themselves in. She thought about Yaz's words about how blessed they are to have Tardis. And no matter how much their life is unpredictable and no matter how many times their lives are in danger the fact still remains that at least in that they were truly blessed.
Yaz opened her eyes in a morning and the first thing she saw was Doctors eyes gazing at her.
"Morning" Yaz smiles
"Morning beautiful" Doctor taps her nose "Had a nice sleep?"
Yaz stretched a bit and then curled up next to the Doctor pressing her back and bum as close as she possibly could to her as always. Doctor lifted her nightie placing her hand on her tummy gently stroking it with her fingers.
"That tickles" she giggles "Did you sleep?"
"I did some...not a lot. We need to get up sleepyhead. Lots to do today"
"Iii know...just cuddle me a bit more. I don't know what's wrong with me lately. Why am I so soppy? I'm not a soppy person."
Doctor laughs and kisses her shoulder "You're hormonal...but I love it...just hope you don't go into hysterical phase"
"I don't like it...I feel stupid. I feel like a child. What the hell I was fighting Cyberman and I turned into soppy mess"
"You can still fight Cyberman Yaz. Although I hope you never do it again. I prefer this"
"So what's the plan Bighead?...I know you have at least ten by now in that beautiful head of yours"
"We are going to visit the big man today. But first I want to talk to Kai and Mani and tell them about the surface. They have to know. Because I was thinking Yaz. Iff we don't sort this out at least I want to helps them. Get them out of this place"
"Me too I really want to help them. Should we get up?"
"I really think we should Yaz"
"Oh morning love. Did you sleep well?" Kai looks at Yaz smiling. She was washing the dishes in the kitchen
"We have. Thank you so much Kai, you're really sweet" Yaz smiles
"Morning Kai, we slept really well. Especially this one. She didn't want to get up. How are you today?" Doctor sits at the kitchen table "We will have to leave soon Kai...lots to do today"
"Where's the rush? Breakfast will be ready soon and you, my dear need to eat. When are you due? "
"Oh, we're not really sure. It's a bit complicated."
"Oh I see...well you will know in time I'm sure...They let you know when it's time...can't miss it" she laughs
"Kai...did anyone ever try to get out on the surface?" Doctor asks intrigued
"Oh few did a long time ago. But never came back. They say they died a horrible death. Nobody tried since. People are scared. They say there's poisonous gasses and all sorts of stuff up there"
"Kai what if I told you that's a lie"
Kai turns around shocked "What? What are you saying? But surely..."
"Kai we came from up there yesterday. We've been up there for days now. And nothing is wrong with the surface of the planet. Yes, something happened...a long time ago a massive disaster of cataclysmic proportions but the planet was healing and there's nothing wrong anymore. Whoever is saying this to you is lying Kai...using you to work and give your money"
Kai was quite. She put the food on a table in front of them and smiled to Yaz stroking her head. "Eat darling...it's nice I made it specially for you"
Her face went serious, and she sat down next to the Doctor putting a kitchen towel on a table and resting her elbow on the edge.
"Don't say this to anyone. What you just told me. It will get you into trouble"
"Why? People need to know!" Yaz says confused
"Listen. When I was a little girl, my father worked in the tunnels. They dig out coal there for heating and cooking and so on. And one day he came home petrified. Said there's a beast living in the tunnels. It attacked the men, and few died. But when they went looking for them one of the men stumbled on opening in one of the tunnels and they say there's a light...bright light coming from the surface inside. But when they spoke of it all the men disappeared without a trace. Never to be heard of again. So, my father never spoke about it again."
"Kai your father was right. What they saw was sunlight from the surface. And the beast was a dragon. It was chasing us, but we managed to escape."
"It can't be surly...Dragons are sacred...they are in our legends." Kai continued explaining "Magnificent creatures flying the skies. Never to be harmed because they come from gods. All animals are. They are gods’ children never to be harmed. But nobody has seen any in hundreds of years. They say when meteor hit it was gods anger. He took his children and scorched the surface"
"Kai it is true...we saw them. Doctor showed it to me when we came"
"Even if true Yaz. My people will never go up anymore. Ever...It's not our place amongst gods. It's why we were punished. We took what's not ours to take. But Chancellor is another thing. He's an evil man. He came from the far. Nobody knows from were. Some think he's a god. But I'm telling you he's not...there's darkness in his eyes. "
"Where can we find this Chancellor?" Doctor asks
"Oh he speaks every day. Up there in the great hall. People go to borrow money. He gives but he takes tenfold back. I told Mani...no matter how hard it gets don't you ever go up there. We will manage."
"Hmmmm...interesting" Doctor and Yaz look at each other across the table
"Alright Kai, we need to rush. We need to go back soon. Thank you so much for everything"
"Well come and say goodbye before you leave"
"We definitely will Kai" Yaz says smiling.
"Thank you for the breakfast that was delicious. What is it?"
"Oh, we grow some beautiful mushrooms in the tunnels. They taste nice, don't they?"
"Best mushrooms I ever had" Yaz smiles

Outside on a street Doctor was in her thoughts. She wasn't saying much. Just walking towards the main hall where Kai said the man was.
"Are you ok? " Yaz reaches for Doctors hand
"Who me? Oh yeah...just thinking. They will never leave this place Yaz. They are too scared. Whatever we do they will stay here in darkness because they believe it's where they are meant to be. It's sad ...all this beautiful world out there and they have never seen it and they probably never will"
"I was thinking the same. But then I was also thinking how the world on the surface is so beautiful and untouched, untainted...all those animals...I don't know Doctor...sometimes maybe it's for the best. We don't know what they did, that they think they have been punished for"
"So true Yaz...I didn't think of it that way" she pulls her along "Hey look it's this way...let's go"
They come in front of the relatively big building on one of the many city squares. People are already gathered in front of the big staircase leading to the main entrance.
"Should we just go inside Doctor?..."
"Definitely Yaz...come on"
Masses of people gathered inside pushing and squeezing each other.
"Yaz keep close to me"
"So many people OMG"
"So many desperate people Yaz"
"Silence!!!!" a voice of a man echoes across the room and everything goes quiet
Suddenly a flash of light a person appeared on the big podium sitting in lavishly decorated chair
"OMG isn't that??..."
"Space racing guy!!!" Doctor finishes her sentence
"What's he doing here?"
"I'm afraid we're about to find out Yaz"
Some people came up and borrowed money, about twenty people that day. Then a person was brought up on the podium. A small young man. He looked scared.
“Oh, you again” the Chancellor says.
“Im so sorry I don’t have all the money just half of what I owe you. But I will have it next week.”
“You said that last week.”
“I understand that, but my growth was destroyed by the tunnel collapsing and we need to wait for the new one to grow. Not much I can do about it”
“I made it very clear that those things are not my problem” he says it cold then turns to one of his men
“Make sure they move out by tomorrow please…Next”
“Nooo please give me just one more week…pleeeesee I’m begging you!!”
“Remove him please” the Chancellor says it to his assistant.
“Ok…I’ve seen enough Yas. Stay here” Doctor turns to her angry
“I’m not staying anywhere I’m going with you” Yaz frowns
“Yaz please don’t argue with me”
“I’m not. Come on let`s go” she pulls her by the hand
“We will talk about this later Yaz…”
Doctor and Yaz climbed the podium and Doctor goes straight for the Chancellor
"Hello again...remember us?"
"No in fact I don't. Who are these people?" he turns to his assistant
"Dead poisonous planet, space race. You left us to die. Ring any bells now?" Doctor goes into his face
"Oh it's coming back to me now" he says confidently
"Change of the carrier? Space race and leaving innocent people stranded on a dead planet got boring for you so you thought hey let's do some real work" Doctor paces around him "Why not lye to the whole nation and enslave them for profit. Is this your real job or just a hobby? Just interested"
"What do you want?" the man sits in his chair without a care in a world not feeling threatened or intimidated at all
"What I want is for you to leave this planet and these people alone. And take your toys with you...go play in your room"
"You really think I'm intimidated by this nonsense?"
"No I actually don't...and that's just because your ego is bigger that the galaxy" she turns around and yells across the room
"This man is fraud...he's not a God he's just a hologram projection from far away" she swipes her hand through the hologram and people start turning around talking shocked and surprised "Your planet isn't toxic or poisonous. There's nothing wrong with it! That's what he wants you to think so you continue working for him"
"Take them away" he turns to his assistant "I had enough of this show"
"Show us!!!" a man yells from the crowd
"Yeah...show us...how do we know you're not a fraud?"
Two of the guards grabbed the Doctor holding her hands at her back and one man grabbed hold of Yaz
"Get your hands of me!!" Yaz tried to get away, but she can't the man pushed to the gourd on her knees pinning her to the floor he's holding the nuro torture device inches from her head with sparks flying of it
"Get away from her!!!" Doctor yells and uses all her strength to release her arms. She then grabs the sonic disabling device and runs across the the room pushing the man off Yaz so hard he falls to the floor
"Are you alright?" her eyes are filled with fear whilst reaching for Yaz's hand
"I'm fine don't worry"
Doctor pushes Yaz behind her and points a sonic at the guards "You really don't want to mess with me right now. Believe me!!!"
"It's true!!!! They are telling the truth!!!" a woman's voice echoes through the crowd distracting everyone.
A small woman walks through the crowd to the podium "You all know my father. He was up there. He saw it. It's true...dragons are back"
"Kai!!!!" Yaz smiles
People looking at each other and commenting.
"And your father" she points at one person in a crowd "they all saw it that day in the tunnels. And when they tried talking about it, they all disappeared. You killed them, didn't you?" she turns to the Chancellor "All of them. Shutting them off...hiding the truth. You're not God...You're pure evil"
Doctor looks at Yaz pointing to the table near the Chancellor "remember that?"
She walks to the table and points the sonic at it. It shows the scorched planet covered in dust "Is this what he was showing you? Is this what you believe in? " Doctor yells across the room and then turns to the Chancellor "Using tricks and technology these people don't understand do you...you're a special kind of breed. You make me feel ill" she turns back towards the crowd "It's a hologram...just one of his dirty tricks"
She pointed a sonic again at the table and the now hologram popped up showing a beautiful untouched nature and dragon flying in the sky. A massive sight could be heard coming from the crowd.
"Fraud!!! He's a fraud!!!" people start yelling.
"Good luck Doctor...we will meet again" the
Chancellor smiles sarcastically and hologram projection disappears
"Aaaaarrrrrr! I hate when he does that!" she yells twisting her face
Ground trembles and pieces of rocks start falling from the ceiling of the cavern down on the streets
"Doctor!!! Whaaaat is going on?" Yaz and the Doctor looked up and around the room
"I don't know?" Doctor looks at her worried
People started panicking and running outside. Doctor grabbed one of the guards by his sleeve pointing a sonic at him "What is going on here?"
"He launched the weapon to destroy the planet" the guard says humbled "I'm sorry...I had no choice he was going to hurt my family"
"Where? ... Where is this weapon? What weapon?" Doctor is shaking him frantically
I'll show you, but you can't stop it now"
"Show me now!!"
"Kai!!!" Yaz yells and pushes Kai out of the way just before the massive pile of rocks fell from the ceiling
"Let's go! Yaz!" Doctor yells grabbing her hand and they started running following the guard at the back of the great hall
They entered the control room with several monitors on the wall and a console with millions of buttons.
"Oh no, no, no you won't!!!!! " Doctor started frantically looking at the monitors and flipping the switches. She points the sonic at the console plate.
"What's going on Doctor?"
"He's got a weapon launching that will obliterate the surface...How did he even get this technology here? Where from? This is Stenza...what is it with Stenza...You know I'm seriously getting annoyed with them"
"How did he get to that?"
"The dead planet Yaz...he must have found it there and thought he could use it.... Aaaaarrr...come on work for me please. If I could just overnight, it. But it's controlled from far away"
Doctor rips the whole part of the console plate and throws it across the room.
"Does she know what she's doing?" Kai askes worried looking at Yaz
"Most of the time...the rest of the time she's good in improvisation."
Yaz's statement gave little to no insurance to poor Kai whose eyes were frantically wandering around the room whose walls started to crack from shaking. A massive piece of rocks are falling from the ceiling all around them and Yaz covers her head with her hands ducking down.
Doctor turned towards her and grabbed her sleeve shoving her under the console
"Stay there and don't move Yaz!!"
"Just hurry up Doctor!!!" Yaz yells as another piece falls to the floor
"I am I am... give me a minute I need to think...I don't have a minute to think...I hate this...this is why I love vacation...I told you this was a bad idea didn't I... but nooo you were bored you needed adventure?" she looks at Yaz freaking out
"Seriously! We're having this conversation now??" Yaz snaps back at her covering her head as another piece of rock falls to the ground
Doctor pulls a bunch of wires out and she reconnects them. "That should work...hopefully" she stands back blasting the console plate with her sonic. The system starts shutting down. Doctor looks around the monitors hysterically pacing waiting to get the answer
"Yeees!!! Total shut down!" she slumps herself to the console plate "That was close!" she sighed relieved
The ground stopped shaking and everyone was relieved.
Doctor reached for Yaz's hand pulling her up and slid her arm around her waist. She looks at her relieved "You both ok?"
"We're fine. Start breathing" Yaz smiles at her lovingly
Later that evening they were all sitting down in Kai and Mani's kitchen having some wonderful food they prepared for them.
"Doctor, I still don't understand what's this hologram you're talking about? " Kai askes confused
"Look Kai" Yaz pressed on her bracelet and her little hologram popped up "See that's our baby here" she points at the little dot melting away
"Waaaaawww...that's amazing. Can I touch it?"
"Yes, don't worry about it. It's just like a picture hovering in the air" Yaz goes with her finger through it
"And that's your baby? ...That's in your belly right now?" Kai keeps trying to touch the hologram with her hand amazed
"Yap...that's our baby!" Yaz smiles and meets Doctors gaze across the table smiling back at her
"So, what happens now? What will your people do?" Doctor asks taking a sip of drink from the glass in front of her
"We decided to stay where we are. We will live the world above in peace. My people destroyed it once and they feel it's for the better that way. We will learn how to live together in harmony"
Yaz yawns and slumps her head on a table
"You should lie down, Yaz. It's been a long day for you" Doctor says looking at her softly "We all should"
"Are you in a rush to go back?" Mani turns to the Doctor
"Not really...no"
"Well Kai and I have been talking and we would love to have you stay with us at least another day. You deserve some nice times as well"
"Yaz...you want to stay?" Doctor asks, smiling knowing the answer already. "Yap, I think she wants to stay" she smiles looking at her giggling across the table
"Alright you...let's go to bed" Doctor gets up walking around the table and reaches for Yaz's hand pulling her up
"Good night. Thank you for a lovely is dinner"
Good night" Yaz smiles going up the steps
"Night lovely" Kai smiles to her
Doctor grabs Yaz's hips pushing her up the stairs laughing "Come on mummy you can do it" She makes Yaz giggle
Yaz was lying on bed already in her nightie playing with a hologram.
"I will never get used to this" Doctor walks out of the bathroom with a sour face wearing her nightie and crawls into bed.
Yaz giggles pulling it up over her head
"Take it off then" she giggles kissing her stomach going up her chest
"Yaz...stop that" Doctor whispers pulling her off herself and putting her nightie back down
Yaz snuggles up still giggling "See you should definitely keep it on...taking it off is way too much temptation"
"I can see that" Doctor laughs
"What was that thing that guard was going to use on me when you freaked out on him?"
"Neuro torture device Yaz. It shoots high voltage through your brain, basically frying every cell. Nasty things forbidden in most parts of the civilized world"
"But he got away, the Chancellor ...again...so he can do this to someone else, again"
"He did yes...but not forever Yaz. Sooner or later, someone will stop him. How are you doing? I was so scared today Yaz"
"I know, you did kung-fu panda on that guy...never seen you like that" Yaz giggles
"I still think this wasn't the brightest idea. I rather have you home on Tardis and having adventures around the lake. Mushroom picking can be fun"
"Stop that. !!" Yaz kicks her shoulder
"Seriously It can...I'll show you in spring" she pushes Yaz's head back down to her chest and kisses her top of her head
"Spring? Are we ever leaving this place?" Yaz looks up to her confused, but Doctor pushed her head back down "Stop fidgeting...I'm trying to cuddle you" Doctor complains
"You haven't answered my question"
"Don't know Yaz...plans change all the time...it's what our life is...and we have baby to think about now"
"So let me make this straight. You want to hide us here for the rest of our lives away from the Master and everyone else? Is that what you're saying? And Tardis? Should we just build a picket fence around it and get a golden retriever?"
"If it means keeping you safe.. yes"
Yaz gets up and sits on a bed "Are you serious? "
Doctor looks at her in silence
"You are, aren't you?"
Doctor gets up and starts pacing across the room tripping on her nightie "I don't know Yaz...maybe...not sure...right now yes...Not like I will dangle you and the baby in front of the Master and Division. That would be right treat for them" she's trying to keep it quiet freaking out whispering
"We can't be on witness protection program either Doctor"
"The whaaat?" she looks confused
"Hide...we cannot hide on some god forsaken place for the rest of our lives Doctor"
Doctor stops visible hurt "God forsaken place? I thought you loved this place? I thought you enjoyed being here...with me...I thought you wanted to stay here forever with me" Doctor turns her back to her, taking a deep breath trying to control herself from leaving the room. She probably would if she was dressed.
Yaz released what she’s just said and put a hand over her mouth "OMG!!! Noooo" she gets out of bed as fast as she can and walks over to her putting hand on her back "Love...that's not what meant" she says quietly "please look at me. I'm so sorry darling that's not how I meant it"
Doctor turns around. Her lips shut tight and her face in a cramp. She felt like Yaz stabbed her through the hearts. She didn't know what she felt anymore, it felt like falling down into a deep hole
Yaz stroked her cheek with her hand "I'm so sorry...please forgive me. That's not what I meant"
Doctor takes her hand off her face "What did you think Yaz?"
"What I meant is that I don't want me and the baby to be a reason you live in constant fear...looking over your shoulder all the time. I don't want that. Yes, I want to spend the rest of my life with you here, I do but not as your burden Doctor"
"You could never be my burden Yaz"
"But I'm becoming one. I've seen you today. All you think about is me and the baby. You're a different woman then few months ago"
"But that's how it's meant to be Yaz. Who am I going to think about...butterflies?" she waives her arms and starts pacing "I never had anyone Yaz...it was always just me. Yes, people came and went but in the end, it was always...just me" she shrugs her shoulders
"What about your wife?"
"Oh Yaz...that was not like with you" she turns around and starts pacing again
"Well, what was it like?"
"Complicated Yaz...extremely complicated...But the point being is that for the first time I'm not alone. I want to have that worry. I want to have that responsibility"
"And the Master...Division...? You can't tell me that's not bothering you because it is. You told me yourself that day I told you I was pregnant. You even made a panic room inside Tardis...what are you talking about"
"Oh, that's like putting alarm on a house Yaz...people do it all the time"
"Stop that!!...Stop playing it down. You're worried sick" she's trying not to yell but keeping her voice down is becoming increasingly hard "You used to leave me all the time...just disappearing on me all the time. And now you can't let my hand go...and that's nice, don’t get me wrong, but it's not because you want to hold it...it's because you're freaking out and if you could, you would duct tape me to yourself and carry me around like a kangaroo. And that's nice as well, but up to a point. I'm still me...I'm pregnant, I didn't have a lobotomy. I can still take care of myself and this baby. I'm not a child"
“Yaz I don't think you're a child and I know you're the same person. But before if someone pushed you or kicked you...you would just get off that floor and strike back. I know you know how to take care of yourself. But now Yaz, if someone did that to you...believe me you would not get off that floor!! And chances are you would lose that baby as well. So yes, I am overprotective and will be because I love you. It doesn't mean you're a burden or that I have no respect for you. It just means I love you Yaz. You mean more to me than anything in the world...I don't look at that as a burden. And yes, if that means making some changes to how we live to keep us out of harm's way I would do it in a heartbeat. I don't see it as some heavy duty tasks that's been thrown at me, and I have to do it out of some duty. I see it as protecting my happiness...our happiness Yaz. Can't you see that?" Doctor said all of it not even taking a breath or blinking
Doctor stopped and gazed at her for a short moment in silence. Her face softened up slowly. Yaz walked up to her and put her arms around her neck.
"I'm so sorry for what I said '' Yaz looked up into her eyes. "I never meant to hurt you"
Doctor wrapped her fingers around her face stroking her cheek with her thumb. She felt like she could never love anything or anyone more than what she loved them two "I don't want us to argue like this, Yaz. I hate it. Please let me have this...I need it so much. I want to protect you. And it may seem silly to you, but I need this Yaz so much...it's just my way"
"Alright love...I'm so sorry please forgive me"
Doctor leaned over and kissed her gently feeling her beautiful soft lips on hers. They pulled apart just a little bit, so the tips of their noses touched.
"I want you" Yaz smiled
"Yaz we can't, not here.."
"I know we can't" she laughs "I'm still allowed to say it. I love you" she strokes the back of neck the way she always did gently sliding her fingers through her hair
"Come on. Let’s go to bed...I can still cuddle you" Doctor smiled at her
"And kiss me" Yaz giggles pulling her towards the bed
"And kiss you..." Doctor trips over the nightie and rolls her eyes “God I hate this thing”
"Oh, for god sake just take it off!" Yaz pulls it over her head and throws it on a side of the bed
She lies on her back and the Doctor puts her head under her nightie kissing her stomach and stroking her legs. It made her giggle, and she placed her hand on her hand over the cotton fabric laughing "You need to stop that right now...that's way too tempting"
She comes back up laughing and lies next to her "I love you beautiful" she kisses her gently

Yaz...you're taking forever, come on!" Doctor is sitting on the edge of the bed all dressed up looking at stains on her trousers "You know we really need to change our clothes"
"I know...well we're going home today so we will finally feel clean" Yaz comes out of the bathroom ready to go
"So, can I hold your hand, or you will freak out on me again" Doctor asks reaching out for her hand
"Don't be silly" she grabs her hand "Let's go. By the way...Love ya"

"Hey Yaz come over here...look" Doctor was shouting from across the marketplace
"Sorry I was just looking at some stuff with Kai" she walks over peaking over Doctors shoulder
"Look Yaz...for the baby" she's holding some gadget in her hand that Yaz couldn't really figure out what it's for
"What is that?"
"It's a puzzle box Yaz...look" she's showing her a really complicated little thing and Yaz still didn't get it fully
"That's adorable but I think it's more for adults than for a baby"
"It may be for humans Yaz...not for my baby" she makes a proud face
"Ohhhh I see ...ok love." she kisses her cheek
Doctor paid for the toy and shoved it in her pocket. Music could be heard from the corner of the street and people started dancing
"Hey music...come dance with me" Yaz looks across the street pulling Doctor by the coat
